Child and Adolescent Therapy

Children and adolescents often experience challenges differently than adults. They may not always have the words to explain what’s happening, but their struggles often show up in behavior, mood, or changes in how they relate to others. Parents are often the first to notice when something feels off.

Common Concerns

Parents often seek counseling when they notice:

  • increased anxiety or worry

  • changes in mood or behavior

  • difficulty at school

  • withdrawal or isolation

  • challenges with peers or family relationships

Sometimes the concern is clear. Other times it’s a general sense that something has shifted.

Working with Children and Adolescents

Therapy with younger clients looks different than with adults.

Depending on age, it may include:

  • conversation

  • play

  • creative expression

  • skill building

The goal is to help the child or adolescent better understand what they’re experiencing and develop healthier ways of responding.

Working with Parents

Parents are an important part of the process.

Part of the work includes:

  • helping parents understand what their child may be going through

  • offering guidance and support

  • strengthening communication within the family

My Approach

I approach this work with patience and respect for each child’s pace. The goal is not to force change, but to create an environment where understanding and growth can develop naturally over time.

In Person and Online Options

Sessions are available:

  • in person in Colorado

  • online for adolescents in Colorado and Tennessee

(Younger children often benefit most from in-person sessions when possible.)
